Innovative material technology KremGuard introduced at Krempel TechDay

Anyone who takes the safety of passengers seriously when using composite materials in airplanes, trains, or electric cars will not be able to bypass KremGuard in the future. Krempel thus sets a new standard in terms of safety. Our striving for the protection of life and technology is once again expressed with KremGuard.

KremGuard stands for low flame spread, smoke development, and toxicity. And it is free from phenol, formaldehyde, and halogens. The epoxy prepreg system provides the ideal basis for structural components and honeycomb sandwiches, both in the interior and exterior. Even in complex composite structures, it is non-flammable, limits heat conduction, and minimizes smoke and gas development. In terms of durability and shelf life at room temperature, it shows significant advantages over conventional phenol systems.

At the first Krempel TechDay, an exclusive group of industry representatives were able to convince themselves of the unique performance features of the new prepreg system on September 20th and 21^st, 2023. Dr. Daniela Goedderz, Team Leader Flame Retardants Engineering Plastics at Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability, impressed with her presentation "Life-saving flame retardants: small molecules - big effect". The TechDay also offered subject-specific lectures, an expert forum with in-depth discussions, plenty of time for networking and a live fire test under the supervision of the Stuttgart airport fire department, where KremGuard demonstrated its capabilities.

KremGuard attracted a lot of interest and initial possible applications are now being pursued. We are on fire to implement the numerous projects ahead.
